Ruta de Cortes
Veracruz - Zempoala - Orizaba - Tlaxcala - Cholula Puebla - Amecameca - Mexico City (Tenochtitlan)
12 Days/ 11 Nights
April 19, 2005 (2006 departure to be scheduled soon)
Join Historian and lecturer professor Jaime Gomez Cacho on a groundbreaking cultural exploration of Mesoamerica as it existed before and after the Conquest. He has strung together the great highlights of ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, including the ancient Mexican capital of Tenochtitlán. This cultural journey will bring us to the path that Hernan Cortez took to conquest the Capital of the Aztec empire. Landed in Veracruz in 1519, and, heading an expedition corps of 600 men, allied himself with the people of Tlaxcala, marched on the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan, took the Aztec Emperor Moctezuma II hostage and took control of Tenochtitlan itself. By 1521, after Moctezuma's death and a futile Aztec rising, the Aztec Empire was conquered, and it's riches were transferred into Spanish hands.
